Club Meeting – Tuesday September 1st

Well, September is upon us, and our monthly meetings will start again NEXT TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st!

GET READY TO LEARN SOMETHING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

Our speaker at this meeting will be Jody Levine. Jody comes highly recommended, and will speak on station grounding. Jody Levine P.Eng, holds an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. In her professional life, she has a wide range of high voltage and high current testing experience. Ms. Levine has a particular interest in broadband Particle Discharge Measurement, generation of surge current and configuration of personal protective grounds. During her presentation, Jody will describe what can happen if lightning strikes, and how to protect ourselves and our equipment.

The Fletcher’s Creek Community Centre, located at the NE corner of McLaughlin Rd and Ray Lawson Blvd, just South of Steeles Ave.

Come at 6:00pm and join a few of us who get together for dinner.  If Don Cherry’s is still closed, we’ll likely go over to East Side Mario’s on Hurontario and Ray Lawson.

Homebrew – summertime fun to continue!

August 27, 2009

The PARC Homebrew group has been getting together on a monthly basis during the summer. In July we had 15 homebrewers attend and in August, 11 of the group came out to show their projects. We plan to continue to meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Brampton Safe City office, 16 George St.North, Brampton.

Join VA3PB who will provide all things displayable along with a portable voice and digital station. He will NEED backup in the booth, so please join him there.

National Simulated Emergency Test (SET)
Saturday October 3
Please make yourself and your station available.  This is what defines Amateur Radio and why we operate in so many frequencies in the radio spectrum. Without it, our bands could be lost to other services. Big business would pay big $$$$ to be where we are. So come out and protect what needs to be preserved.

Homebrew meeting – August 18th, 2009

The homebrew group have been able to secure a meeting room at the Brampton Safe City Office for our next Homebrew Meeting. Date is Tuesday August18, 19:30 hrs. The address is 16 George Street North Brampton. Corner of George and Diploc Ln. There is a multi story parking garage on Diploc, and parking is free after 18:00.

We are looking to secure this location for a permanent meeting site,on the 3rd.Tuesday of the month. Hopefully we can confirm this before long.

Very comfortable facility, lots of places close by for a pre meeting meal, and as well, we will have use of the visual aid equipment.

Please bring along any projects you have been working on, Q4 or other projects for a show and tell. Up for discussion will be ideas for future projects, current project successes and any problems being experienced. Also we can talk about the fall project and start making plans.
